Hi, I'm Jan Nostitz-Jackowski
Team leader & experianced Project Manager
I design processes & campaigns on the internet and actively supporting innovative projects. For the last few years I've been helping startups build their brands meaning, find errors, grow faster and gather the most effective teams. Welcome to my world!
What I'm good at
I don't want it to be to formal - I do creative things, so I like to let it loose from time to time. I also love infographics, so to save you some time, here's what I'm really good at (I'm also great at other things, but you know... I'm trying to be humble).
Short summary of my language skills - Polish is my native language and for the most of the time I use English at work. I used to learn German, but after not using it for a long time, I feel like I'm basic in it - currently re-learning it. Same thing with Chinese.
I believe that there's always a space to improve. In situations like this, there is a temptation to show yourself only in "10's", but I didn't want to do that (obviously I chose things I'm best at). I know a lot, more than I need to effectively run a team of specialists, but I want my people to be better than me in specific things.
About me
The "boring" part where I'm talking about myself. It's a good workout for your head though - calling out your strong and weak sides and make it interesting. I've also made it easier, if you're more of a watcher than reader - there's a Youtube video underneath, which is basically what's here, but with my face and voice!
So: born in 1991 in Gdańsk, Poland. Good student, not a bad son. Non of that matter now, so let's jump few years in the story straight to Hong Kong - a place, that made the biggest impact on my life. Traveling was always my hobby, so when my dad gave me a chance to travel to Hong Kong, I did it right away. I was going there for 6 months almost every year - each time was more important for me. I was learning a lot - not only language, but the ways world works in different places. For the young boy I was, it was a huge gamechanger. When I was there for the second time, I attended university and learn some Chinese. I've also helped my dad to launch a company - a polish-chinese sailing club. Big thing for a 20 years old guy. Since than I knew, that I like to "do things".
Read more I was working for that club for some time. Summer was intense since we were traveling accross Europe - with me as a Team Leader. Finding ways to solve everyday problems with simple things, planning meeting, cooking food - it was all my responisibilities. And yeah, I wasn't affraid to work hard and get dirty. It was a dream. Those experiances helped me to start my first startup during my univeristy - with a friend we've started designing a gocart as NJZ Team. It was going well from almost every point of view - we even found an investor at some point. I've learned a lot about business, contracts and advertisment, but it wasn't the exact thing I wanted to do longterm, so we went separate ways. I moved to Poznań for a 3 years and got a job in the ad agency, but it wasn't the right place for me at the time. The good thing was, that it showed me the way I wanted to go - so after some preparation I've launched my agency which was putting bread on my table ever since. It was a wild ride too! It allowed me to managed houndreds of projects, co-funded a boardgame publishing, social media agency, help to establish a FoodTech company in UK and worked with many great people. I've learned a lot and (I believe) I made an impact on people. I was building and managing individual teams for every project, sometimes few at the time. I've learned more, than anywhere else, working up to 18 hours a day. On one hand I helped publish books and games for a few thousand euro. On the other I worked as a Project Manager on a €0,5 million deal with the french clothing brand Celio*. I designed webistes for ad agencies, consulted business models with small startups, but also worked on preparing new officess for Citibank and CitiGold. Thanks to my work and persistence, I have built relevant relationships and a certain image in the industry. I have been featured in f.e. MamStartup or Antyweb, and for a while I was on Forbes radar. So why leaving? Well, a lot has changed in the last year. A market has change and I feel I'm not progressing anymore. I simply need new challenges and new enviroment. I feel like I did all I could here and I'd like to make a difference somwhere else. Few years ago I was just an engineer with dreams and ideas. I didn't know any graphic programs - I do now. I didn't know how to record & edit video - I do now. I didn't know how to scale projects & make money on the internet - I do now. I didn't know many things, but I was learning fast - and I want to use it in the new workplace. Am I the best fit for your team? I don't know... but from the last paragraph, you know what I do when I don't know something 😉
Experiance

Founder, Project Manager 2017-now
This company was a response to my desire to participate in many different creative projects (with which I had a lot of contact when I started working in the advertising industry). Initially, Startooy specialized only in crowdfunding, but later it also expanded to other aspects of online marketing: social media support, copywriting, creating content, video editing, website building, and many, many more. In most of the projects, I was responsible for supervising their progress. In the company itself I was responsible for:
- supervising projects
- team building (internal and for clients)
- customer service
- graphic designs

Co-founder, Project Manager 2021-2022
Board game publishing, that creates original and commissioned games. GramON is an "after hours project" in which many people are currently involved. I am personally responsible for business aspects and project management. GramON creates, among others, games for cities and companies.
I was responsible for creating the website and building relationships with key partners - printing houses, infulencers, creators.

Managing Director 2019-2021
I got hooked at Cogg Coffee because of my experience. At the beginning, I was supposed to be only a consultant (business and marketing). Later I also provide graphical services. Eventually, I received shares and became responsible for selecting people for the team, overseeing the design and production process, and marketing planning. I supported the founder in most of the key decisions, worked with the constructor and designer on the external design of the device, and was responsible for contacts with the factory. I connected the design department with production to reduce production costs as much as possible without lowering quality and excessive compromises.

Instructor, Speaker 2019-2020
Crowd.Academy was a local Tricity initiative aimed at promoting the use of correct solutions when starting a projects online. As part of it, I conducted stationary and online workshops, and developed processes for small projects based on my previous experience. While being in Crowd.Academy, we established cooperation with Starter Incubator and the City of Gdańsk.

Sales Manager for Europe 2017-2020
Hong Kong international trade company, which main focus was to arrange production in China and ship custom products to Europe. My responsibility was to acquire and take care of European clients, as well as to provide design services to meet their expectations. At that time, I handled orders for Selgros (Coop) and CitiBank.

Constructor engineer, Designer (with English) 2016-2017
It was my first job in the advertising industry and a big change after being the head of the small production team in an offshore company. More creative work, much bigger variety of projects and often more responsibility were what I expected. In addition to designing the technical side of the projects, I had to take care of the aesthetics. Then I supervised the entire testing, production and distribution process. It required excellent time management and resistance to stress. The last part was essential.

Team Leader, Race Assistant 2012-2014
My first “big job”, with lots of tasks and responsibilities. As JAsia was a Hong Kong company, Team Leader's tasks had to be performed on a continuous basis as the season lasts all year round. Apart from assisting the team in the Asian championships, I also took part in the World, European and Polish championships. I was responsible for the transport of the equipment, taking care of its quality, constant support for the team members - technical and psychological - as well as participation in training.
Education

Gdansk Univeristy of Science and Technology 2010-2015
Technical Univeristy (Mechanics and machine building) have taught me two things - spatial vision and effective planning. Studies also gave me the opportunity to catch on new things and learn technical language, which in my daily work on various projects helped me better understand and manage the needs of teams. Using many different softwares has taught me to work in various environments (SolidWorks, AutoCad Inventor, Adobe, Corel). Such varied experience also allows me to learn new programs faster.
University completed with an A score (A+ on my thesis) and the title of Master of Science in Engineering.

Chinese Univeristy of Hong Kong 2012
The summer semester at Chinese University of Hong Kong allowed me to learn the basics of the world's most difficult language and better understand Asian culture. I graduated from the university with a B+ result.
Some people like to talk
If you've came all the way here, you're probably considering working with me. I've built this website to make the decision easier for you, so let's hear what other people have to say about me.
Jan is an empathetic person and a strong leader. He can perfectly manage his & his employees' time, plan well and he learns quickly. When we got to know each other, he didn't know many of the programs I used for my work - now he can use them no worse than I do. His engineering background, combined with a great sense of aestheticsallow him to solve even very complex problems in a very creative way.
When I try to define working with Jan, one thought comes to my mind: "you're lucky to be working with him!". I don't know other people like Jan who are so creative, inspiring and courageous. These features make him a great leader and project manager. Every time we were working together I was amazed by his bold visions and successful implementation plans. Something may seem impossible? Not for him. I strongly recommend working with Jan, doesn't matter if it is a crowdfunding project or any other idea he may assist you with. You're in good hands.
Reliable, knowledgeable specialist. Fulfills the given word. His out-of-the-box thinking is a great asset that he knows how to use perfectly. I had the pleasure to work with Jan for a while and with a clear conscience I can say: I highly recommend it!!
I went to Jan to help me get my tiny concept of COGG Coffee off the ground, and he immediately turned my small original idea into something great. Jan is knowledgable in so many areas of business and startup growth that there is no way COGG would be where it is today without having a key member like Jan in the team. To anyone thinking of getting involved with Jan in a project, I can’t recommend it enough.
Jan knows and understands how the internet works. In his work, he deals with many different projects and is always able to approach them professionally and creatively, providing comprehensive answers to all questions. He always tries to adapt the previously acquired knowledge to a new project. I appreciate Jan for his writing skills and aesthetics in designing.
Portfolio
In the last few years I took part in over 100 projects in which I was always a Project Manager or a person responsilbe for "making things happen". Underneath I'm presenting those I'm most proud of.
